From offline citizen discussions to online conferences

In an online conference, our PhD Laura Bomm discusses findings from their social science method that engages citizens with the issue of plastics.

On the EASST/4S conference our PhD Laura Bomm (part of the Science and Technology Studies fraction of PLENTY) discussed some of their findings. She and her supervisor Prof. Dr. Ulrike Felt are finalizing their co-authored journal article "Plastic Time(s): The temporal choreography of plastics in citizens’ narrative".

Due to Covid-19 regulations her conference participation had to take place online. Her data is based on citizen discussion sessions, where 6-8 participants debated around one big table. Luckily these discussion sessions were finalized in November 2019, because now such face-to-face discussion session pose serious challenges to social scientists, which have to follow Covid-19 measures in their research design as well.
